Frankenstein: The Modern Monster
The flash of lightning that awoke Frankenstein’s Monster in 1818 signaled the new concept of science fiction as allegory and cautionary tale for the modern world. To celebrate Halloween–this month OWA appropriates the image of the monster created in the English Romantic period and puts him squarely into an American context by tracing its history from a symbol of fear to a figure of fun.
