Join friendly experts from the Hawthorn Hollow Schoolyard Observatory to raise your awareness about the importance of nighttime light pollution. Globe at Night is an international citizen science project that involves the public measuring and collecting night sky brightness observations to help scientists understand the impact of light pollution. KPL has created circulating kits to aid local Citizen Scientists, and our special guests will teach us how to use them to collect and submit data about local light pollution.
This is a completely outdoor program and will be held the following night if cloud cover is more than 40% at dusk. Registration is required and patrons will be notified by email if the program is postponed.
