Climate Justice and Clean Energy in Kenosha and Wisconsin

6:30 PM – 7:30 PM
KPL Northside Neighborhood Library

Description

Climate solutions, such as renewable energy and electric vehicles, can help us both avoid the worst of the climate crisis and advance social and racial equity in our society. In this talk, we'll look at how climate change affects people of color and low-income communities disproportionately and how climate solutions can help lower people's energy bills, create well-paying green jobs, and make our communities a better place to live. Attendees will learn how Wisconsin's local governments are addressing climate injustice and how they can be part of the clean energy transition.

Maithilee Kanthi is Clean Wisconsin's Climate Justice Organizer where she works on building a broad coalition of support for equitable climate solutions through community organizing and climate education. Maithilee moved from California to Madison in early 2021 and has come to love Wisconsin's natural beauty and changing seasons.
